Description

Screenwriter | Features Writer | Content Writer

I have completed a screenwriting course on Writing for Television Fiction and Web Series from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune from August 2019 to January 2020. Previously, I had completed my Master's degree in History from the University of Hyderabad, followed by M. Phil in Centre for Study in Indian Diaspora from the same University. My M. Phil dissertation topic was ‘Historical Representations of Indian Indentured Diaspora’.

I have worked as the Features Coordinator with The Meghalayan, where I wrote, curated and edited feature pieces for the Saturday Supplement, Slate. My work included researching for stories as part of culture curation, coordinating and brainstorming ideas with a team of writers, and writing my own pieces for the Supplement. Previously, I have worked as a Digital Content Creator with the same media house where I edited copies filed by reporters, in addition to finding relevant news pieces from agencies for the website.

I freelanced as a member of Team Variance from August to November 2021, tasked with the content creation of a coffee-table book on the occasion of Meghalaya’s 50th year of statehood in 2022. As a freelance writer on commissioned work under INTACH Meghalaya chapter, the team ideated and conceptualised the contents of the book

From November 2020 to June 2021, I worked as the Features Writer of The Shillong Times, where I researched and wrote for their Sunday Supplement, Sunday Shillong.

At The Shriram Millennium School (TSMS), Noida, I taught History & Civics in middle and high school (classes VI to IX) and Sociology in high school (classes XI-XII) from July 2017 to October 2018.

Earlier, I have worked as an Assistant Editor, Journals Peer Review in Taylor and Francis Group from February to June 2017. Previously, I have worked as an Editorial Assistant (Peer Review-Journals) at SAGE Publications from January 2015 to February 2017.

My experience of working as a journalist with two media houses have taught me to keep people at the heart of my stories. Freelancing was an adventure even if for a brief period. Working with Taylor and Francis Group and SAGE Publishers has made me aware of how academic publishing works. My experience of working with children in an educator's capacity has taught me the value of compassion. With a varied experience in different sectors, I have learned that perspectives matter.
